Professional Practice Committee

Purpose of the committee
The purpose of the committee is to advise and guide the profession in terms of all matters relating to Professional Practice.

Address all the aspects related to Continued Professional Development (CPD) which includes:

  • Policy development
  • Verifying individual CPD submissions
  • Points allocation for events
Responsibilities of the committee
In terms of Professional practice  the following responsibilities are applicable:

 

  • To ensure that registered persons are aware of and adhere to the Code of Conduct
  • To make the functions and role of the Council known to the general public.
  • To inform registered persons of the work and programme being undertaken by the Council
In terms of CPD:
  • To determine and advise the Council on the minimum CPD requirements for maintaining registration
  • To determine the basis on which CPD points will be awarded
  • Approve a list of CPD activities
  • To consider possible service providers for accreditation
  • To examine CPD system already in operation with a view to identifying possible problems
  • To examine the legal aspects in relation to the de-registration of Professionals that do not comply
  • To review the system introduced from time to time with a view to making improvements
